Stewardship

Stewardship: A steward is one who is entrusted to manage another’s affairs, finances, obligations and/or property.

The Apostle Paul in Titus 1:7-9 wrote, For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; *But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; *Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

A bishop is one that Sits in the Seat of - or has the Position of - a Steward and has the Authority to conduct the Business for the Master. Therefore, the Character of a bishop MUST be Impeccable and completely without fault.

In 1st Peter 4:9-11 the Apostle Peter wrote, Use hospitality one to another without grudging. *As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. *If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Without a doubt, a person cannot properly use or give out that which they DO NOT have or possess.

Everyone has received "The Measure of Faith" in Christ Jesus when they Confess their sins unto the Lord and accept the Precious Shed Blood of Jesus for the Forgiveness of their sins.  Therefore, every believer can Share, as a Steward, their experience of Salvation.

It is then the duty and privilege of every Believer, in Jesus, to Read and Study His Holy Written Word so, they can share the same with others.

However, if a person has not received the Gift of the Holy Ghost (Which is needed to Cast out devils), they had better not endeavor to try to do so, see Acts 19:14.

The Apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 4:1-2 wrote, Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. *Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

A Minister or Preacher of the Gospel is a Steward of the Written Word of God.  Therefore, such a person should exemplify Fruit of the same.

We read in St. Luke 16:1-8, And He said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. *And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. *Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. *I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. *So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? *And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. *Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. **And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

There is coming a day when everyone that nameth the Name of the Lord will have to give account of those things that they have done in this life, see 2nd Timothy 2:19.  But unlike the Steward, mentioned in the above Scripture, it will be too late to make corrections in one’s life because Time will be no more.  Therefore, it behooves us to actively look into the Written Word of God, the Bible, and begin living accordingly.

In St. Luke 12:42-43 we read, And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? *Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Today, the Spirit of the Lord is still asking, “Who is on the Lord’s side among you? - Who will help join in the Fight?”

The Saints are the Body of Christ and as such are Responsible to do the Work of the Lord; to Prepare the Way for His Second Coming.  Let us therefore be diligent to be about the Masters Business, as Faithful Stewards of the Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord and Soon Coming King.  Praise His Holy Name!
