Come Join Us In Remembering What The World Has Forgotten..... The Seventh Day Sabbath!
To put out or suppress; to extinguish by ignoring or refusing to satisfy God’s promptings;
to bring to an end typically by damping, cooling, decreasing or satisfying.
The Apostle Paul in 1st Thessalonians 5:18-23 wrote, In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. **Quench not the Spirit. *Despise not prophesyings. *Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. *Abstain from all appearance of evil. *And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
My dad had a saying, “Those things that are considered difficult, we do with ease; those things that are considered impossible, takes us little bit longer to accomplish.”
I wrote that to say this: Praising the Lord in ALL things is sometimes difficult, but with a little bit of conscious effort (on our part) we can bring it about to where it is as natural as breathing. It is God’s Will that we Praise Him. We were Created to Praise Him. Praise His Holy Name!
When a person does not pay attention to “Observe” what the Written Word of God “YHWH,” the Bible says, they are in essence, quenching the Spirit of the Lord. When a person refuses to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, they are in essence, quenching the Spirit of the Lord.
The Spirit of the Lord moves in various ways; such as desiring people to pray or praise the Lord. Should they not comply with the moving of the Spirit, they are quenching the Spirit of the Lord. We need to be mindful not to Quench the Spirit lest, the Lord withdraw His Spirit and we die.
On the other hand, if we yield to the Spirit of the Lord then, we will be greatly blessed.
In 1st Corinthians 9:11-12 the Apostle Paul wrote, If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? *If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
If we fail to give the Tithe of our earnings “Increase” or if we are unwilling to give an Offering unto the service of the Gospel of the Lord (when it is in our ability to do so), we are in essence, quenching the Spirit of the Lord.
King Solomon in Proverbs 8:33 wrote, Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
If we refuse to hear or comply with the instruction of the Lord, we are in essence, quenching the Spirit of the Lord. The person that is a hearer of the Word of the Lord is a doer of that same Word.
In Ephesians 6:11-18 the Apostle Paul wrote, Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. *For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. *Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. *Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; *And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; **Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. *And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: *Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
What good is it for a person to be partially dressed; will not that person suffer because of a lack of that which is required? If the temperature outside is below freezing and a person goes and stays out in the cold for a prolonged period of time, without the proper clothing needed to stay warm, they run the chance of frost bite, at the least, or the possibility of death due to the over exposure of the cold. Therefore, it is needful to be properly dressed.
In like manner, when a Believer (Saint), is not fully clothed in the Righteousness of Christ and His Holy Armour, they are at risk of Spiritual death. To refuse/ignore to put on the Whole Armour of God is in essence, quenching the Spirit.
The Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 1:19-20 wrote, If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: *But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
To refuse or rebel is to Quench the Spirit of the Lord and the end results is certain death or, at the least, to suffer damage and/or loss.
We read in St. Mark 9:43-44, And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: *Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
We, the Saints of the Most High God, need to be mindful of those things that may have the possibility of hindering our Walk with the Lord and then, take the appropriate action or necessary steps to either avoid those things or get rid of them all together thus, rendering them harmless, lest we run the risk of quenching the Spirit.
In Romans 13:12 the Apostle Paul wrote, The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
To refuse to put off the works of darkness, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is to refuse the Light of the Lord and to quench the Spirit.
We really don’t have a lot of time left so, we need to get serious about Serving the Lord or God with ALL our Spirit, Soul and Body.
We read in Hebrews 11:32-34, And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: *Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, **Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
If the Saints are willing to be obedient to the Written Word of God then, they will be able to work the Works of Jesus and receive a Crown of Glory when Jesus returns to receive His Own unto Himself. Praise His Holy Name!
The only thing that the Saints should want to Quench is sin, which is the allegiance to the devil and his evil doings. Amen? Amen!
