Genesis 1:26-27, "God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
Was the man that God created first Flesh? According to St. John 4:24, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
Therefore, it would appear that man was first created a spirit being. "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Genesis 2:7
Therefore, the part of man that was created in the likeness of God would have
to be Spirit because God is a Spirit.
The flesh of man was formed out of the dust of the earth. In like manner, "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son (Jesus) in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Romans 8:3-4
The spirit of man is the breath of life, Genesis 2:7. On the cross of Calvary Jesus cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost." St. Luke 23:46 (in part)
The body of Jesus was still hanging on the cross after he gave up his spirit, the breath of life. His body was later taken down from the cross and laid in a tomb where it remained for three days and three nights.
Then His spirit returned to Him and He arose from the grave and He is now at the right hand of His Father in Heaven interceding for the Saints.
"Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb." Isaiah 44:24, (in part)
Again you see the Scripture here talks of the body of man being
formed not created ~
It is written in Jeremiah 1:5, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and
before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."
The writer of the book of Hebrews talks about the spirit of man; the spirit that God created in His own image. He wrote, "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect." Hebrews 12:23
Jesus is the Son of God made flesh. Man is flesh being made the Sons of God.
Therefore, the Saints of God are of the God-kind.
This bears repeating so, remember, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." St. John 4:24
King David in the Psalms said, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10
When the first man, Adam sinned, his spirit in him died. But now through the
Precious Blood of Jesus, man’s spirit is made alive again. Praise His Holy Name!
Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?"
St. John 10:34
"And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was." St. John 17:5 (pre-existence of Jesus)
"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." 1st John 3:1 &2
God calls those things that are not as though they already are. Romans 4:17
"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." 1st Thessalonians 5:23
"In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated
according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his
own will:" Ephesians 1:11
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
One thing about this Scripture one needs to remember is, for all things to work for our good, we must be called according to His purpose.
Even satan was created perfect from the beginning. Ezekiel 28:15, "Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee."
