" Praise the Lord for that which He is about to do! "
It was discarded by the Roman Catholic Church with the help of Constantine, a roman ruler in the third century, after the death of Jesus.
There were those who did not want to go along with the change from the seventh day to the first day of the week, but they were forced to do so by the Catholic Church and a Roman Ruler who was at that time a member of the Roman Catholic Church. However, there was some that moved away and continued to worship on the seventh day of the week.
If you are a minister, who is well-read, you will know that there is not one verse in the Bible that sanctions the change of the Sabbath from the seventh day of the week to the first day of the week.
Are you going to tell your congregation about the switch and ask them to turn back to God's Holy Sanctified Sabbath? ~
Or, are you going to continue in your sin and hope God will not charge you for it? If you know anything about God's dealing with disobedience, you know He does not allow it to go unpunished.
Consider Adam, Moses and Lot's wife. Consider also Ananias and his wife as a few that thought they could disobey God’s Holy Word, do it their way and get by with it. They didn't!
I realize that there are many that do not know of the change from the seventh day to the first as a Sabbath. This is where you come in as a Minister. You are duty bound to tell those who will hear it and let them choose whether to obey God or man.
To those of you that think you are honoring Christ’s resurrection by resting on the first day of the week. Try finding a scripture that will tell you to honor Christ’s resurrection. If you do not find it, and you will not, do not deceive yourself any longer.
Another thing you won't find is a verse of scripture that says Christ was resurrected on or during the first day of the week. All reference to his resurrection in the four Gospels is in the past tense. Remember your schooling in language the words, (he is risen) simply means he arose sometime before this present time.
If you would really like to know when he did arise, check the time in which he died, then add 72 hours to the time when he was buried and you will know when he arose. One thing for sure, he could not have risen in the morning part of any day, as he was buried before sundown one evening. Therefore, he would be resurrected in the evening before sundown - three days later.
Go to St. Matthew 28:1 and Daniel 9:26-27. Here you are told when the Messiah was to be cut off. You are also told that the sacrificial system ceased.
Now you have it, he was buried on Wednesday resurrected on Saturday--check your calendar. The Sabbath that was spoken of in St. Luke 23:54 was a Hi-day Sabbath. Check out St. John 19:31 you can read about Hi-day Sabbaths in Leviticus 23:5-7 and Numbers 28:17 this will explain why some think he was killed on Friday and resurrected on Sunday. There are at least nine statements saying he would be buried three days. Jesus himself made some of them and you can be sure he was not lying.
St. Matthew 12:40 says Christ was to be in the grave three days and three nights. 1st Corinthians 15:4 says he was buried and rose the third day according to the Scriptures.
Is what you are teaching according to the Scriptures? ~
Look at St. Matthew 27:63, St. mark 8:31 & St. Luke 24:46.
St. John 11:9 states that Jesus said there is "twelve hours in a day."
This happens twice a year; once in the Spring Equinox and in the Fall Equinox. This is the time of the year he spoke this word.
For those preachers who believe that Jesus or the Holy Ghost is our rest, Jesus is our spiritual rest. When Jesus said in St. Matthew 24:20, "Pray that your flight not be in the winter, neither on the Sabbath Day", he did not say, don't let your flight be on Me or the Holy Ghost. He said let not your flight be on the Sabbath.
