We shall mount up with wings as eagles.....

Isaiah 40:31

" Praise the Lord for that which He is about to do! "

Old vs. New Testament

REASONS FOR CHANGE

A Little World History prior to Sinai

Starting with the ‘fall’ of Adam and Eve, SIN, in all its flagrant
veins ran rampant throughout the earth. We know that within the
fruit of the ‘tree of the knowledge of good and evil’  (Genesis
2:9) were contained the TEN COMMANDMENT LAW, and, upon eating
thereof, were revealed to them, via that LAW, the knowledge of
SIN! We also know, God had commanded them, ‘thou shall not eat
thereof,’ with a death penalty, attached (Genesis 2:17).  That,
“Where there is no law there is no transgression.” (Romans
4:15).  For; “---By the Law is the knowledge of SIN.” (Romans
3:20 last part).

Enter the serpent, with his;  “Ye shall NOT surely die: For God doth
know that in the day ye eat thereof,---ye shall be as gods, knowing good
and evil.” (Gen.3:4-5)  “Pride of life” and the “supposed” removal of
the death penalty clause nailed Eve, and thru her Adam!

Without the presence of LAW, Cain could not have been charged with sin, nor punished by a righteous God for slaying his brother Abel,
nor could sin, as such even exist!

Sin comes from 3 basic areas of human nature; “---the Lust of the
flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the
Father, but is of the world.”  (1 John 2:16).  Remember God’s command to Adam and Eve, To; “Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth.” (Gen. 1:28).  As mankind multiplied and spread across the earth, sin areas were also fruitful to the point of no return, as found in the days of Noah.

Results?  Slavery, multiple gods, with accompanying rituals, the grossest of forms of idolatry, and accompanying ‘sacrifices’ animal and human, primarily virgins and children slain, or, sexually violated and
mutilated, in worship and sacrifice to idols of wood, stone, and various
metals, Idol worship incorporating the most licentious and abominable sex acts the warped and twisted mind of man could devise.

Plus multiple wives and concubines, (not withstanding Genesis 2:24
instructs that  “therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother,
and cleave unto his wife (singular, not plural), and they shall be one
flesh.”  According to Christ also, man should have one wife; “and they
twain [two] shall be one flesh,” (Mt 19:5) Paul also ordained a
‘bishop must be blameless, the husband of one wife---‘ (1 Tim.3:2)
(Multiple wives still problem?) Lamech, 7th from Adam, had 2 wives.
Genesis 4:19, from there,-- if not before, it was all down hill!

And this, notwithstanding the prime directory of Commandments one thru three; “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” And;  “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them not serve them----" (Exodus 20: 3-5).

Gen 7-9  Approximately 1650 years after creation, God destroyed the world for wickedness-saving only 8 souls, Noah and his family Reason for earth’s destruction?  Imagination of men’s hearts only evil
continually!
Gen. 8:21!  “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the
Lord.” (Gen 6:8).

God dealt primarily with individuals prior to Abraham. His 2 fold Covenant with Abraham reaches to, and beyond our day. God’s promise to him was; No.1, “In thee and in thy seed (Christ) shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. (Gen. 22:10) No. 2,  “I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore----"  The promise of the birth of the nation of Israel!  Along with it came this Prediction; “Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them _400 years*—afterward they shall come out with great substance.” (Gen.15:13-14) see also v’s 14-18, We’ll pick up on this later.

Abraham, being in a strange land, fears being killed for his wife
–apparently a practice in his day! (Gen. 12:11-13) As was plurality of
wives. Sarah, being barren, gives her ‘handmaid (slave) to Abraham to be 2nd wife, so as to have a child thru her. (Genesis 16:3-5), Sarah later
bears Isaac, then, casts out bond-maid with son Ishmael. (Gen. 21:10).
Sarah dies, Abraham remarries, and has 2 concubines=(half wives
according to Young’s Concordance)- (Genesis 25:1-6)

Genesis 26:34-35, *Esau*, Isaac’s eldest son weds 2 wives to start, plus a 3rd one Gen. 28:9, out of spite to his parents.

Genesis 29:24 Jacob has 2 wives- Leah & Rachel, plus, 1st concubine -
Rachel’s, that I may also have children by her.  NOTE; Sounds like a
handmaid - slave was simply a piece of property in the mindset of
most, in those times, more later to enforce this. Genesis 30:;9 Leah
gives maid/slave to Jacob to wife –same reason as Rachel, 4 wives, or 2
wives and 2 concubines. Note; see Ex 21:21 for greater understanding
mindset of the times.

     Genesis 31:10, Laban, Jacob’s father-in-law changed Jacob’s wages
ten times!

Genesis 31:42-43 Jacob with his family and flocks flee Laban and heads back home. Laban pursues, and upon their meeting states ownership of both Jacob’s entire family and flocks, but acknowledges, Jacob’s God said NO!

MOVING ON TO ISRAEL’S FREEDOM FROM EGYPT, TO SINAI And those “ADDED LAWS” (Gal 3:17,19)

"17 - And this I say, that the (Abrahamic) covenant that was confirmed before of God in Christ, *the law, which was 430 years after*, can not disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

From Exodus 12:40-41, we find that 430 years, to the selfsame day, from the giving of the Abrahamic Covenant, (Genesis 15:13-14, 18) Israel became a nation, Fifty Days later at Mt. Sinai came The giving
(repetition/confirmation),of the Ten Commandments--And the ADDED LAW spoken of in Gal.3:19 as recorded below;

"19 - Wherefore then serveth the law?  It was added because of
transgressions
, until the seed should come to whom the promise was
made; and it was ordained in the hand of a mediator/.
*NOTE; you cannot Add to that which does not Exist!*

Into wilderness Exodus 13:21-27  Led of God,- cloud by day-pillar of fire by night! A 30 day journey, extended to 40 years because of rebellion against God and His Word, being stiffnecked, and gross SIN!

Exodus 15:26  Concerning obedience to Commandments, statutes.
Commandments known before Sinai. Statutes also known, at least in part, before Sinai!

Exodus 16:23  Sabbath known from the Garden of Eden- definitely Pre-Sinai!

Exodus 18:16 More statutes and laws:
In their captivity under Egypt, Israel was exposed to All of Egypt’s
Idolatry with the utmost immorality and debauchery that accompanied it!  According to the biblical record, a host of them brought those memories along on their Wilderness Journey, as witnessed by their demand for Aaron to make them a golden Calf to worship WHILST Moses was atop the Mount getting copy of the 10 Commandments for their Tabernacle, Israel’s focal point for worship of the True GOD!

Starting here for the most part, God is dealing with Israel  AS A
NATION
!  Because it was in REALITY, a carnal, stiffnecked, rebellious Nation overall, and thus, not primarily as individuals, of which a very small minority were Godly, hence, we now come to the place where some laws etc. fit into the Category of Ezekiel 20:23-25,
GOD, speaking to Ezekiel specifically of Israel’s 40 year Wilderness
Journey out of Egypt to the Promised Land; I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the
heathen, and disperse them through the countries; because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers, idols._ _Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;  And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the Lord.

Matthew 19:9-10, Mark 5:3, and Mark 10:2-5.  And thus, we find our PRIME DIFFERENCE between the Old and New Testaments.

TEN COMMANDMENTS=COVENANT DEFINED

Covenant = Conditional Contract or testament-- A conditional agreement between two or more parties - God’s Covenant, contained both exceeding great blessings for obedience to it, and, severe penalty clauses for the breaking thereof!!  Lev. 26: 14-42, 44-45.

Exodus 19:5-7  If kept = Israel as a nation would be a peculiar people,
(meaning-treasure), kingdom of priests, an Holy Nation.
Also statutes and judgments ordinances. Statute= necessary ordinance. Basically the same as statute. Judgments, many at variance with the original ‘Two Great Laws, as listed in Deut. 6:4-6 and Lev.19:18, as shall be shown.  Reason? According to Christ, “hardness of heart.” (Matt. 19:9-10) Which hardness is still witnessed in Mark 3:5, and Mark. 10:2-5.

STATUTES AND JUDGMENTS THAT WERE AGAINST THEM, Yet COMMOM TO GENTILE NATIONS

Exodus 21:7 "And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant (female slave) she shall not go out as the menservants (slaves)
 do." (see also v. 8).

Exodus 21:20-21. "And if a man smite his servant, or his maid,
with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall surely be
punished. Not withstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall
not be punished: he is his money."

Exodus 21:26-27 " And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake."

Exodus 21:28  "If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall surely be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner shall be quit. But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and the owner also shall be put to death." (or a ransom paid-v.30)

Exodus 21:32 "If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant, he
shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall
be stoned." Christ betrayed for=price of slave.

Exodus 22:2-3  "If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall be no blood shed for him, If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him, for he should make full restitution, if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft."
(Slavery)

Leviticus 19:20-22  “Whosoever lieth carnally with a woman that is a
bondmaid [slave],betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she (M. they) shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord, --even a ram for a trespass
offering"   Leviticus 23:17-21  "Eye for eye, tooth for tooth."
LAW LEVITICUS 25:39-41;  "if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant (Slave) But as a hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall serve thee unto the year of jubilee."  Which occurred every 50 years.

Leviticus 25:44-46 "Both thy bondmen and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. --- They could buy the children of strangers, they would be Israel’s possessions and an inheritance for their children after them, they shall be your bondmen (slaves) forever.”

TEN COMMANDMENTS-++++GOLDEN CALF

Exodus 32:1-9  The people gathered unto Aaron, and said, "up, make us gods, which shall go before us; as for this Moses, --we wot not what is become of him."

Aaron took their golden earrings at their hand, "and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: “and they (the
people) said, These be thy gods O Israel, which brought thee up out of
the land of Egypt
.”

Aaron declared the following day a feast unto the Lord, They rose up
early, offered burnt offerings, peace offerings, sat down to eat, and
rose up to play.  Aaron did “make them naked unto their shame among their enemies.”  (Exodus 32:25).

The Lord said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people which thou broughtest out of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. They have turned away quickly out of the way which I commanded them:
they have made them a molten calf---have worshipped it,-sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt
.”

Verses 10 to 14 show God testing both Moses intercessory readiness and sincerity, by telling him that He, God would ‘consume’ Israel and make of Moses a great nation (vs. 10-last phrase)!  Moses comes thru as intercessor and God ‘repented’ of the evil which He thought to do unto His people.” (vs. 14).
Exodus 23:31-33; "make no Covenant with the nations nor their gods" v. 32, 34:12-17

GOD CHARGES ISRAEL WITH BEING STIFFNECKED- REBELLOUS

Lord said unto Moses, "I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a
stiffnecked people;” (vs. 9)

Exodus 33:4 “----I (the Lord) will not go up in the midst of thee; for
thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.” (see
also vs. 5)

While receiving the replacement tables of testimony, Moses pleads: "If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people,  pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance." (Exodus 34:9)

ISRAEL’S 40 YEAR WILDERNES JOURNEY==OUR WILDERNESS JOURNEY? FROM 30 YEARS OLD TO----THREE SCORE & 10

One Law for Israel & Strangers_ Nu. 15:14-16
Israel backs Korah’s rebellion-- God is angered at Israel & Korah
Nu. 16:18-19, 43-50
Aaron’s rod buds Nu.17:6-8

Moses and Aaron’s sin at the rock of Meribah, “And the Lord spake unto Moses saying, take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes;  and it shall give forth his water,--and Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, "Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand and with his rod _he smote the rock twice: and water came out abundantly,---the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. Num. 20:7-13

People speak against God and Moses;
“Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread And the Lord
sent fiery serpents among the people—“ Num 21:5-9

Israel commits whoredom with the daughters of Moab. 24,000 slain. (Num. 25:1-9).
Cities of refuge appointed (six of them) for people who accidentally
slew another person.  Num. 35:15*

DEUTERONOMY = “SECOND LAW GIVING;”

"In the 40th year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the
month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel, according to all that the
Lord had given him in commandment unto them.”  He chides them for not going into the ‘Promised Land’ at the commandment of God. The spies had brought fruit etc. from there, but with 2 exceptions, they brought back an evil report, while acknowledging;  “It is a good land which the Lord our God doth give us. *Ye (Israel) rebelled against the commandment of the Lord*—ye murmured-and said, because the Lord hated us, he hath brought us forth—to destroy us." Deut. 1:25-27

God’s punishment for the above; “Surely there shall not one of these
men of this evil generation see that good land,-save Caleb (/and
Joshua)—the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.---your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it."  (Deut 1:35-39)

Rebellion again;  People say, we sinned, we’re going; God says
“Don’t Go.” Israel goes against the Amorites-- contrary to God’s word,
with disastrous results. (Deut 1:44-45) Punishment spelled out in Num. 14:29-34;  “After the number of the days in which ye searched the
land,- 40 days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even
40 years," (vs.34).

God’s reason for choosing Israel; “And because He loved thy fathers,
therefore He chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in His
sight with His mighty power out of Egypt." (Deut. 4:37-38)

Warning from God against pride;  "Speak not in thine heart, after that
the Lord thy God hath cast them out before thee, saying, For my
righteousness the Lord hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord doth drive them out before thee.---and that He may perform the word which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Understand-the Lord-giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness ; for thou art a stiffnecked people." (Deut.9:6)

Provoked 40 years;  "Remember,- -how thou provokest the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of Egypt, until ye came to this place, ye have been rebellious against the Lord. –in Horeb ye provoked the Lord, -so that the Lord was angry with you to have destroyed you." (Deut. 9:4-8)

Sin of the Golden Calf-------- while Moses receiving ten Commandment
Tables (Deut 9:10-20) See also vs. 22-24, Rebellious against the Lord
from the day that I [Moses] met you.

Lord will drive out nations  “IF" Deut 11:22-24,  "IF ye shall
diligently keep all these commandments which I command you to do them, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and to cleave unto Him; Then will the Lord drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.”

Commanded to destroy the gods of Canaan (Deut 12:1-3)

Ye are not to do after all the things that we do here this day, every
man that which is right in his own sight
(Deut. 12:8)

We have a central location for sacrifices (Deut. 12:3). Command; death to false prophets (Deut. 13:8-11, 18:20). Year of release to Israelites sold into bondage to other Isra:lites, not applicable to strangers;  they are your property  (Deut. 15:1-3) [slaves]

Command broken by all Kings I know of; multiplying to himself horses, wives, silver and gold. (Deut. 17:14-20) Dealing with captives taken to wife (Deut 21:10-14)
Two wives-one hated (Deut 21:15-17) Rebellious son= Death! (Deut 21:18).  Person hanged is accursed (Christ came under this law for our sakes!!)  (Deut. 21:22-23). What’s commonly known today as cross-dressing=) abomination before God (Deut. 22:5) Bride not a virgin==Death (Deut 22:13-21) Max on whipping, 40 stripes, (Deut 26:3) DIVORCE LAW (Deut. 24:1-5)

In closing Deuteronomy, Moses brings two serious charges; in Deut.
31:27, First, by Moses, “For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiffneck;
behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious
against the LORD; and how much more after my death?"

Second, by the Lord; “For they (Israel) are a nation void of
counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. O that
they were wise, that they understood this, that they would
consider their latter end!" (Deut. 32:28)

We also have the sacrificial system which was a prelude thru the
symbolism,--- of a pure sinless offering yet to come! Knowing that the
blood of bulls and of goats etc. could NOT take away sins (Hebrews
10:1-4) “But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of
sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of
goats should take away sins.  Christ was that PERFECT SACRIFICE! Thus ended the animal sacrifices of OT times. Today we are required to present our bodies, a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God
which is our reasonable service (Romans 12:1-2)

Time of the “JUDGES” Israel Longing for an Earthly King

We know the Pagan Countries surrounding Israel, as well as those given to them, had kings! This was a way of heathen life, and had been for many centuries. After the death of Moses and Joshua, God in His infinite wisdom raised up ‘Judges,’ Men of the hour (and at least one woman, Deborah), to bail out Israel during their many times of ‘Crisis’!  Still, Israel also wanted to be like the world_-----have an earthly KING! Both in essence and reality rejecting their heavenly KING, God theirs and our heavenly Father! (1 Samuel 8:7)

In Deut. 17:14-20, God, thru Moses had given strict instructions
concerning who would appoint their Kings, Himself, Lets read it, then
we’ll continue;
     14  "When thou art come unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee,-- and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are about me;
15  Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the Lord thy God shall choose:  one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother.
16  But he shall not multiply horses to himself, not cause the
people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses:
forasmuch as the Lord hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.
17  Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn
not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold"
18  And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom,
that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which
is before the priests the Levites:
19  "And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of
his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the
words of this law and these statutes, to do them.
20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel."

ISRAEL’S FIRST KING; SELF-APPOINTED

A familiar OT figure, Gideon, had many wives, concubines and children thereby.  Ahemelich being one of them, of him we find, “Son of the judge Gideon, by his Shechemite concubine. Judges 8:31 (BC 1322-1319).  After his father’s death he murdered all his brethren, 70 in number, with the exception of Jothan, the youngest, who concealed himself; he then persuaded the Shechemites to elect him king!  In Judges 9:6, we find Abimelech made king in Israel.  In verse 22 we’re told;  “When Abimelech had reigned three years over Israel,”

Later; as time passed on we find; “In those days there was no king in
Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes. (Judges
17:6), also in Judges 21:25, it’s repeated.

SAUL- 1 st  GOD APPOINTED KING OF ISRAEL

Moving on, to the time of Samuel’s old age,  1 Samuel 8:1-8, we find
Samuel’s sons judges over Israel, but not walking in his footsteps or
ways, they; ‘turned aside AFTER LUCRE, AND TOOK BRIBES, AND PERVERTED JUDGMENT.” (vs. 3).

The elders of Israel petition Samuel, “Now make us a king to judge us
like all the nations.” (vs.5) That we also may be like all the other
nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight
our battles.” (vs.20).

The thing displeased Samuel, and he prayed to the Lord. God’s answer;  “Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.” According to all the works which they have done since the day I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherein they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee” (vs.7). In vs. 9 thru 17  Samuel shows them the cost of having a king. (see also chapter 12:17)

Saul, became the 1 st God-appointed King of Israel.“—a choice young man, and goodly: there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders upward he was higher than any of the people.” (1 Sam. 9:2). A man Israel could literally ‘look up to!’

Saul began good, God gave him another heart, and in meeting a company of prophets, the spirit of God came upon him and he prophesied among them. (1 Sam. 10:9-10).

We know that Saul had a wife, and at least one concubine (II Sam. 3:7)  that he sinned against God to the extent God sent an evil spirit
(1 Sam 16:14) which troubled him the rest of his life.

God transferred the Kingship to David, the Shepherd King.  He too fell into the multiple wife syndrome, 4 in number, plus at least the 10
concubines, as recorded in II Samuel 15:16, and 16:21-22.  But, short of
Christ, no man has a higher testimony of/by his Creator!  Of him God
said; “---I have found *David*, the son of Jesse,  a man after mine
own heart
,  Acts 13:22

David’s son Solomon takes the cake with his ‘wealth’ of
women-folk, wives and concubines.  A marvelous start, God given wisdom, builder of the first Temple, his proverbs are as ‘current’ today as when written. His later, building boom of temples for the ‘gods’ of his many foreign pagan wives, who became a ‘snare’ unto, and barrier between him and the God of his fathers!  He thwarted God’s command on three counts; heaping up all three God given no-no’s.--- wives, horses, and money!

God stripped 10 tribes from Solomon’s son’s domain, not doing so in
Solomon’s lifetime for David’s sake. From there the kingdoms of both
Israel and Judah were a round of ups and downs, mostly downs, because of the conduct of their kings and leadership. Most kings either built temples for idolatry or endorsed those already in use, with few exceptions!

Elijah, after challenging the 850 priests of Baal, having both won and
destroyed them, fleeing from death threats by queen Jezebel, wound up hiding in a cave.  Asked of God, ‘what are you doing here?’ His reply
was, ’I’m the only one left, and they seek my life.’  God’s reply brings
hope to all today,  I have yet 7000 who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”

From Israel’s national beginning to end, as 12 tribes, and later, as
divided into Northern and Southern Kingdoms, of Israel and Judah, As a nation/nations were most of the time equal to their neighbors, being
head over heels into idol worship! Wanting to be like the surrounding
nations-- Idol worship, slavery, lasciviousness, fully into the 3 basic
sin areas listed in 1 John 2:16!  Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes,
and pride of life!  Have things changed that much since then?  NO!

MOVING INTO CHRIST’S TIME KEEP PREVIOUS THOUGHTS AND SCRIPTURES IN MIND

We urge our readers to bear in mind the 4 scriptures we now give below.
“;Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the Lord thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of
Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against
the Lord (Deut, 9:6)

"Ye have been rebellious against the Lord from the day that I knew
you.” (Moses speaking" (Deut 9:24)

From Ezek. 20th chapter, concerning Israel’s Wilderness Journey:
"Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my
statutes, and had polluted my Sabbaths and their eyes were after their
fathers’ idols.  Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not
good, and judgments whereby they should not live
: (Ezek 20:24-25).

“I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.  But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.  So I gave them up unto their own heart’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.”
Psalm 81:10-12).

Consider for a moment, a parallel between Ancient Israel and our good
Ol’ USA:
Both were founded on Godly principles and abundantly blessed by God!  Both drew further away from Both the Author and the principles (Laws, Statutes, and judgments) in a very short time. Daily our Leaders are shredding those Godly principles, steering us further into total rebellion against the Laws of God upon which our nation was founded.

Slaughter of the unborn, skyrocketing divorce, co-habitation,
homosexuality, deviant sexual conduct, removal of the 10 Commandments from all Govt. premises whether state or national, and the list goes on.  Yet like Ancient Israel, we too have some Godly People in our midst!  The statutes and judgments ‘ that were not good,’ yet given permitted, by God, were till He sent The Savior to set things back in order as well as paying the ultimate price for OUR SINS!

Lets apply now the words recorded in Isaiah 42:21,  “The Lord is well
pleased for his righteousness sake, He will magnify the Law and make it honorable.”

Christ came with a full docket to work out; First to re-establish His
Church on the original Godly principles, Blot out the ‘handwriting of
ordinances that were truly against us.'  And that were added 430 years
after what, and---to what??  You can’t  ‘add to’  a non- existent!  Also,
Bring an end to the  ‘Sacrificial System'  thru His own sacrificial
offering on Calvary’s’ cruel cross!  Thus once and for all paying Sin’s
Penalty for a  ‘Whosoever will, let him/her come'  to ring joyfully from
the housetops!!

Yes, our Lord Jesus had His work cut out for him in a multitude of ways.  The high priesthood was held by the sect of the Sadducees. Their belief system did NOT include angels, spirits, nor a beautiful hereafter to look forward to. These were the elite of their day, the Aristocrats!

The scribes and Pharisees were the ‘driving force’ of the ‘church’ in so far as the ‘follow the leader’ (s) were concerned.  Christ charged them with ‘teaching for doctrines the commandments of men'  (Matt. 15:7-9, Mark 7:6-11).   23 times the word  ‘hypocrite' is used in the 4 Gospels.
At least 16 times Christ applied it directly and openly to the scribes and Pharisees. Scribes and Pharisees, the actual leaders of the masses, the ‘Great Pretenders!’

Yes indeed, our Lord had His work cut out for Him—to “Magnify the LAW” and to restore it to it’s original HONOR among his own, the children of God!

From the records we find that the Sadducees were the mega-bucks, money class and as holders of the high priesthood, were insured a heavy flow of funds.  Records show one high priest actually killed another for his priesthood position! Others bought it from or thru their Roman Rulers of the day.  Do you see Christ had his work cut out for him? Come to think of it Brethren,  So do we! Christianity today is also a mega-bucks business, whether actually salvaging souls, or simply salving the consciences, while the money flows in freely!

Christ also passed on to His children the job as stated in Isaiah 42:21,
to pick up out of the trash, so to speak, and to  ‘magnify the LAW and
make it honorable.'

Let’s take a 12 year old boy’s words to heart today; “Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” Look out upon the fields, they’re “white to the harvest.”  (John 4;35).

Next place in line the texts that are used today to falsely remove the
10 Commandments from the Christian roster today. One of which is:
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that were against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his
cross; (Colossians 2:14) and also
Galatians 3 vs. 17 and 19;
“And this I say, that the covenant that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was added four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. Wherefore then serveth the law?  It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise
was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator,”

And last but not least, the one supposedly doing away with the
Decalogue:- "Sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace." (Romans 6:14)

Nine of the 10 Commandments are NOT seriously called into question today by any Mainstream churches,  just #4, that ordaining the Sabbath!  So let's bring out some of those ‘statutes’ that were not good yet permitted: “Because of hardness of heart”  Matt. 19:8; and see where we are-

Slavery then was a way of life in all nations around Israel, as well as
in Israel itself, and was so in and beyond the time of Christ. Bear also
in mind that God is dealing with a rebellious Nation, as a whole, not as
individuals!

Slave is owners money Exodus 21:21
Can we sell our daughter today to be a maidservant (slave)?
They could then- Exodus 21:7
If a Priest bought a "soul" for money he (that soul) could also eat of
Holy Things Leviticus 22:11.
Buy your slaves from of the strangers - they can be heritage for the
children (They shall be your possession. (Lev 25:45-46)
More by going back thru this article but this proves some of Book of the Law blotted out at Calvary because they were and are against God’s
principles as well as His children. But—the Sacrificial system as well
as temple altars for same- finished, ENDED at Calvary!

DON’T BE TOO HASTY IN NAILING COMPLETE BOOK OF THE LAW TO CROSS

     The Two Great Commandments rest comfortably in the Book of the Law, and are of prime importance!  Why?  Let’s let Christ answer that;
“---Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.   On these two commandments hang All the LAW AND THE Prophets."  (Matt. 22:37-40).

But what about Apostle Paul’s statement in Romans 6:14, That we’re not under Law but under Grace?  Take a moment, consider,  Where there’s no law there’s no transgression,  (Romans 4:15).  Yet Paul also says  "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)  What Paul is saying to us is simply, we are not under the Condemnation of the Law, but under the manifest Grace of God. To do away with the 10, and then rebuild 9 of them which is what 99% of Christianity is doing is wrong!   Why?   Apostle Paul gives the answer;  “For if I build again the things (commandments?) which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.” (Gal.2:18).

So—as the Sacrificial system is nailed to the cross and the New
Sacrificial system is instituted (see Romans 12:1-3 for particulars)  We
nail the Slavery, selling daughters, buying souls etc. laws very tightly
there also, and others listed in this article (in part).

In closing, I need to ask, what, besides the Sabbath do you find out of
step with the New Testament as a whole and our Savior in particular?

Yours because of Calvary
