Marriage
~ Marriage is the union of one man and one woman~

Divine Revelation has declared marriage to be honorable in all.  Once the Union of marriage has been formed only death should sunder it.

There are a few rules that married persons should adhere to.

Pray one for another, not that the Lord would change one spouse to the ideals of the other but that the Lord will bless your spouse.

Never go to bed angry with your spouse.  Even if your spouse is in the wrong.  One should always convey willingness to say, “I’m sorry”.

In order to promote the longevity of marriage, couples should read the Bible and pray together at least once every day.  It is suggested that the Bible be read from Genesis through Revelation on a yearly basis.  This practice should especially continue once children are born.

It is written in Hebrews 13:4 in part that, “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled:”

If a marriage has not taken place then, anything done by a couple in bed can be construed as being defiled or wrong.

The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:21 wrote, "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."

One reason for submitting yourselves one to another is because your body is not your own but it belongs to your spouse, 1st Corinthians 7:1-6, "Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. *Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. *Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. *The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. *Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. *But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment."

In Ephesians 5:25 & 28-31 the Apostle Paul wrote, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. *So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies.  *He that loveth his wife loveth himself. *For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:  For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. *For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh."

If men and women would treat their spouses like they are supposed to treat Jesus, we would not have divorces ~

The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:22-24 wrote, "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. *For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. *Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing."

Whoever saw a body that had two heads that didn’t have a lot of problems and then eventually, the death of the body?  As the human body cannot effectively live with two heads so, a marriage cannot have the desired quality of life with two heads.

In Colossians 3:19 the Apostle Paul said, “Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.”

From my own personal experience as a married man, if my wife is not happy or is feeling down then, I too do not have the good quality of life that I would like to have.  Therefore, as much as in me, I endeavor to see to it that my wife is happy and that everything is well with her.

In Colossians 3:18 the Apostle Paul said,” Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.”

I think too, if the women will be honest, they don’t like to see their spouses falling down or unhappy.

The Apostle Peter in 1st Peter 3:7 wrote, "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered."

We might need to remember that it was the woman that listened to the devil in the Garden of Eden and ate of the Forbidden Fruit and then gave it to her husband to eat.

Have you ever wondered what Eve might have said to get Adam to eat of the Forbidden Fruit?

Here’s a possible thought, “If you love me, you’ll take a bite of this Fruit.”

Regardless of how things happened, we can’t afford to ignore or disobey the Written Word of God ~

In 1st Peter3:1-2 the Apostle Peter wrote, "Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; *While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear."

Living life by example is the best way to instruct children in the way that is right ~

King Solomon in Proverbs 18:22 said, “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”

I truly have been blessed by the Lord in Him providing me a wonderful wife that loves Him, me, our son, and my family and people in general.

Here are a couple of verses for a woman to especially remember when it comes to having children.

In 1st Timothy 2:15 the Apostle Paul wrote, "Notwithstanding she (the wife) shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."

The Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 66:9 wrote, "Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God."

These two Scriptures are promises to the woman that as a wife, she will give birth to the children that she bears.
