Bible Study Subject
I hear so many people comment and write about how long a person can expect to live. They say that God “YHWH” only promises mankind three score and ten “Seventy” years of life, Psalms 90:10. Is this really true?
Let’s take a look at what God’s Holy Written Word has to say about this subject.
The Life Span or Expectancy of years of mankind was established by God “YHWH” after Creation, after the fall of Adam and Eve through sin, and after they were driven from the Garden of Eden; when many years of time had elapsed and mankind had multiplied upon the Earth and had become vary wicked because of the sin brought on by the partaking of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, God “YHWH” in essence said, “it is enough;
"And the LORD said, “My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." Genesis 6:3
It was because of the wickedness of mankind that King David in Psalms 90:10 wrote, "The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away."
Wickedness / sin has always been that which bringeth forth death, but righteousness “right living according to the Written Word of the Lord, the Bible” bringeth forth Life.
Life and death is in the Power of the Tongue, Proverbs 18:21. Therefore, if the Saints of God “YHWH” will confess or speak Life and do that which is right and pleasing in His sight, there should not be any reason for one of the Children of God “YHWH” to cease from this present life under the age of one hundred and twenty “120” years old.
I realize that time and chance happens to all, Ecclesiastes 9:11. In other words, there are a lot of things that can and will happen along life’s way but in spite of this the Saints should not proclaim their demise. They should proclaim their Life in, through and by the Spirit of the Lord. Praise His Holy and Righteous Name!
One of the Ten Commandments of God “YHWH” states, “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12
One other thought that I would like to convey is something that Jesus said in St. John 11:26, "Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
Remember, the wages of sin is death, Romans 6:23. Therefore, stop sinning and perhaps you might be able to live a long life, prosper and be in good health.
In Hebrews 2:2-3 we read, "If the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; *How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation."
Finally, brethren, "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8
May the Heavenly Father richly bless and keep you as you follow on to know and serve Him in Spirit and in Truth.
