~ The Holy Spirit; The Rock; The WellSpring of Life; The Comforter; The Guide and Teacher ~
Holy: is to be Exalted as one Perfect in Goodness and Righteousness; One that is Complete;
Ghost: the Spirit of Intelligence; the Seat of Life;
Holy Ghost: the Seat of Perfect Righteousness;
In Jude 1:17-23, we read where the Apostle Jude wrote, "But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; *How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. *These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. *But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, *Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. *And of some have compassion, making a difference: *And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh."
The Apostle Jude wants to stir up the Pure Mind of the Saints by putting them in remembrance, 2nd Peter 3:1, of what the Apostles of Jesus told to the Saints not to be concerned about the disbelief of mockers. Sometimes we too need to be reminded, less we let important things slip from our mind. He further admonishes them that the best way to withstand the Gainsayers is by building up their Most Holy Faith by praying in the Holy Ghost. Without Faith it is impossible to please God. But through Faith mountains can be removed. Therefore, it is important to ADD to our Faith that we not be easily shaken and that we will be able to change from Glory to Glory.
It is the Holy Ghost that the Disciples and every Saint needs to be able to withstand the wilds of the devil. However, if a person has not received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, they will not be able to pray in the Holy Ghost. Receiving Salvation and being filled with the Spirit of God is not receiving the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.
The Apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 14:4 wrote, "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church."
There are some people, ministers too that will tell you that we are not to edify ourselves. However, the Apostle Paul, the greatest minister to the gentiles said that the Saints that pray in tongues edify or build up their self. The Apostle Jude also concurred with this necessity. If a person is weak in the Faith how can they strengthen anyone else?
The Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 28:11-12 wrote, "For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. *To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear."
Jesus said that He did not come to give rest to His followers but that He would send the Holy Ghost to strengthen the Saints thereby, giving them rest. Jesus also said that the Holy Ghost would lead and guide the Saints into ALL TRUTH.
I don’t know about you, but I want the Lord to talk with me and if His way of talking to me other than His Written Word is in, through and by the Holy Ghost, I want to receive it.
Note: Even today some still refuse to hear and receive ~
In Romans 11:29 the Apostle Paul wrote, "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance."
The Lord Jesus gave the promise of the Holy Ghost to His Disciples and He did not take away (repent from) the availability of the Saints of today to receive the same gift of the Holy Ghost because He is not a respecter of persons.
Note: Some say it was only for the Apostles but God says that He doesn’t change, See Malachi 3:6 & James 1:17
We read in St. John 7:37-39, "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. *He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. *(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)"
Jesus told the Samaritan Woman at the well, "whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst", St. John 6:35 - We, too, need this Well Spring of Water flowing in us so, that we will be able to overcome ALL of the power of the devil. Jesus said that they that believe on Him should receive the Holy Ghost. Have you received it yet?
The Apostle Peter in 2nd Peter 1:21 wrote, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
We too, as Saints of the Living God need to speak as we are moved by the
Holy Ghost ~
We read in Acts 2:1-4, "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. *And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. *And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. *And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
How good and blessed it would be if the Saints of today could come together in one accord and with one mind to love and serve the Lord. Praise His Holy Name!
We as Saints of the Most High God need the Holy Ghost to appear to us. We need the Fire of the Holy Ghost to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness. We need the Holy Ghost to be upon us at all times. And we need to speak as the Holy Ghost leads us and not according to our own thoughts.
The Apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 14:2 wrote, "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."
The Apostle Paul also stated that the Spirit helpeth our infirmities, Romans 8:26. I don’t know about you, but I need all the help that I can get. Praying in the Holy Ghost allows the Saints to have direct communication with the Father.
It may also be possible that the devil doesn’t understand when we pray in the Holy Ghost. Praying in the Holy Ghost is like having a Secure Line of Communication with God.
In 1st Corinthians 14:39, the Apostle Paul wrote, "Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues."
In the Law of God the Ten Commandments we are told that we are not to covet anything that belongs to anyone else but we are encouraged to covet the Best Gifts of the Holy Ghost. 1st Corinthians 12:31
We read in St John 20:21-22, "Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. *And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost."
Jesus gave a direct command to His Disciples that they were to receive the Holy Ghost. Since God is no respecter of persons, Acts 10:34, this same command is for us today.
The Apostle Paul in Romans 14:17 wrote, "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."
Having the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is to have part of the Kingdom of God. I don’t know about you but I want to have part in the Kingdom of God.
In 1st Corinthians 2:12-14, the Apostle Paul wrote, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. *Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. *But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
The Holy Ghost is to teach, lead, guide and direct the Saints into ALL TRUTH. Praise the Name of the Lord for that which He is about to do for ALL those that Seek to Know and Serve Him in Spirit and in Truth. Praise His Holy Name!
We read in Joel 2:29, "And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit."
The promise of the Holy Ghost has been mentioned through the Written Word of God, the Bible. Therefore, the importance of the Holy Ghost in the Life of the Saints is Paramount to see us through to Glory.
