~A little flower finds that being mean to others only causes her pain ~
Once there was a beautiful little flower growing among some weeds. This little flower thought that she was so much more beautiful than the weeds that she would not take part in any of their talking. She just waved her beautiful head back and forth in the breeze, and was content to be alone in her thought of grandeur.
One day a young honeybee came by and lit on one of the pedals of the flower. “May I have some of your honey?” said the little bee.
“No, you may not,” said the little flower and began to close her pedals. “ I,” said the little bee, “am on my first flight to gather some honey for my queen, and I dare not go back empty. Could you not let me have just a little honey?”
“No way. Never” said the flower, “Now be on your way.” So the little bee buzzed away looking for another flower.
While the little bee was passing over a lady’s garden, she heard someone calling.
“Little bee, little bee, stop by here if you please.” So she stopped on a wide leaf and looked around.
There under one of the large leaves was one of the largest flowers she had ever seen. The flower invited her to help herself to all the honey she could carry and said, “Hurry back soon!”
When the little bee got home she told all the other bees about the large flower. She also told them they would be in the shade while they worked. I think the queen gave her a special gift and the other bees thanked her for her kindness.
What do you suppose happened to the little flower? She began to look
kind of ragged. One of the weeds said to the little flower, “If a bee or some other insect doesn’t pollinate your heart, you will never have any seeds.”
This information made the little flower very sad and she began to wish for a bee to come by for some of her honey.
One day an old bee lit on the little flower to rest for a while and the flower said to it, “Will you please take some of my honey, all of it if you wish.” “I am too old to carry much honey,” said he. “And besides I was told you were a selfish flower and I would not like to impose myself on someone as selfish as thee.” “Oh, please,” said the little flower, “I am sorry that I was selfish in the past. Will you please forgive me and help
me?”
“Yes, I will be pleased to have a little of your honey if you are truly sorry?” said the old bee. “I am, I am,” said the little flower.
So that is how there were more flowers in the field the next year because of the little flower and the bee.
How about you? Has the Savior ever come to you for a part of your life?
Did you send him away? If so, please invite him to come back.
He will - you know, if you are truly sorry.
