" Praise the Lord for that which He is about to do! "
~ A Rule or Principle that must be obeyed ~
I pray you will bear with me and prayerfully consider the Word of God written in Spirit and Truth.
Note: We will find that the topic at hand, “The First Law Given” is first mentioned or begins in the book of Genesis and is still being mentioned in the book of Revelation. Therefore, it would seem that this is something we should consider as being important.
First of all, let’s set a Firm Foundation that we be not soon shaken that we as is written, “buy the Truth and sell it not”.
"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
2nd Timothy 2:15
"Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. *Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. *And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. *It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. *I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me." St. John 8:14-18
"He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:" Hebrews 10:28
"This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established." 2nd Corinthians 13:1
The Apostle Paul seemed to think the use of two or three witnesses to prove or establish the Word of Truth that he mentioned it to the people of Corinth three times. Since Paul is considered to be the Apostle to the Gentiles and to have written most of what we call the New Testament, shouldn’t we pay attention to what he said to the Saints in Corinth?
"I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, *That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. *For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: *Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; *Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen." Romans 9:1-5
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. *And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. *If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. *He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. *And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 1st John 5:7-11
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Numbers 23:19
"For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed." Malachi 3:6
"And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent." 1st Samuel 15:29
Now that we have established that God can not lie, that He does not change, that He says what He means and means what He says and that we should use two or three witnesses (Bible Writers such as Moses, Samuel, John and Paul) to prove all things, let’s move on to the topic at hand, “The First Law Given.”
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: *But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Genesis 2:16-17
The lie of the Devil has been the same from the beginning. God told Adam and Eve they would die if they ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Satan told Eve she would not die if she ate of the forbidden fruit but that she would be wise.
Jeremiah 10:2, in part, tells us, "Learn not the way of the heathen." Adam and Eve already knew every thing that was good. They did not have a need to know evil since they were in the Garden of Eden, the Garden of God, a place where God is and He is Life forever more. Praise His Holy Name!
It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." St. Matthew 4:4
"All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers. *And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. *And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live." Deuteronomy 8:1-3
1st Samuel 15:22, in part, says, “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
"Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
*And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin." Romans 14:22-23
"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17
"Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." 1st Corinthians 10:12
"Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. *And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. *And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. *And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. *Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you." Leviticus 11:4-8
"Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. *Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water. *Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD." Deuteronomy 12”23-25
"Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: *But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood." Acts 15:19-20
Note: Part of the Law of God that we call the Law of Clean and Unclean was that we are not to eat anything that dieth of itself or to eat blood because this would make a person unclean / abominable.
"Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby." Leviticus 11:43
One might want to consider what the book of Revelation has to say about those that are abominable. “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8
To be abominable or unclean may seem like a small thing in the eyes of some. But the Word of God seems to put them right along with the murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars. Shouldn’t the Saints of God be concerned about this association?
"And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. *And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird." Revelation 18:1-2
The Word of God says that He inhabits the praises of His children. Psalms 22:3
"He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD." Psalm 128:14
Question: Is God’s Word true? St. John 17:17 says, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
If then God’s Word is true, shouldn’t we endeavor to observe and do His Holy Word?
St. Matthew 23:2-3 says, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: *All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.”
Isn’t it high time that we who are called Saints of the Most High God, stop quibbling over the Word of God and do like the mother of Jesus said in St. John 2:5, His mother saith unto the servants, "Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it"
May the Heavenly Father richly bless and keep through Christ Jesus His son by the Power of the Holy Ghost as you follow on to know and do His perfect will. Praise His Holy Name!
